Stuart Roberts – 10 stone weight loss now marathon runner!

In January 2016 I sent Nathan an email asking if he fancied taking in a ‘BIG project’. At the time I did little or no exercise and weighed just over 26 stone.

A little over a year later I had lost 65Kg and completed the London Marathon. Nathan is quick point out this was down to my hard work and dedication but the truth is he deserves more than fifty percent of the credit. His approach to weight loss and PT masterminded this project and I am very happy to admit this has been genuinely life changing.

Nathan’s knowledge, especially about nutrition, is fascinating and rarely do I leave the gym without having learnt something. Whilst I am convinced it is down to each of us individually to decide to make life style changes It is very difficult to follow through on these changes without the support of others.

Nathan is an outstanding example of one of these “others” and I am 100% sure I would not have made a quarter of the progress without his expertise and coaching.

Having competed at Triathlon and Duathlon for 4-years I was delighted in Dec 16 to hear that I’d qualified to represent TeamGB at the Mid & Ironman distance Duathlon in the European and World Championships in 2017.

I needed to step up my training and step up to a new International level. I was recommended to Nathan Wood who, coming from a background of a Royal Marine Commando, had an in-depth understanding of endurance and more importantly maintaining high-speed and endurance whilst building mass and strength.

I’ve worked with Nathan now for 8-months, on strength, conditioning and nutrition and he’s managed to make me faster whilst building and strengthening my core and upper body.

Whilst competing in Ironman it’s very difficult to maintain mass due to the long training sessions, however following Nathan’s nutrition plans I’ve managed to race at a slightly heavier weight which has made me stronger for longer.

Training sessions with Nathan can be tough but are always great fun. He pushes me when I need it and he rests me when I need it. He just gets this stuff (not many trainers do!).

I competed at the European Championships in May 2017 and came 12th of 140 in my Age Group, it wouldn’t have happened without Nathan.

Following on from this, in September 2017 I came 13th in my age group at the World Championships in Zofingen.
